10 cp
Prerequisites Nil
Incompatible THEO568 Catholic Ethos and Health Care
Teaching Organisation 2 hours per week for twelve weeks or equivalent. The unit is taught in intensive mode with lecture input and reflective exercises, web-assisted.

This unit provides leaders and aspiring leaders in Catholic health, aged care and social welfare with an introduction to the theological foundations for the exercise of their role. Students will explore the nature and distinctive features of Catholic culture. They will examine a Catholic understanding of the human condition, and in particular, the existential and spiritual aspects of health and aged care and social welfare with regard to caring for persons. This will include drawing on the resources of the tradition for coming to terms with suffering and death, and for exercising the ministries of healing and care. The unit foreshadows the key emphases of the Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Catholic Culture as a whole, namely, theological, ethical and leadership perspectives on the care of the human person.
