THBS100 Introduction to the Bible and THCT100 What Christians Believe
Teaching Organisation The unit involves 150 hours of focused learning, or the equivalent of 10 hours per week for 15 weeks. The total includes formally structured learning activities such as lectures, tutorials, online learning, video-conferencing, or supervision. The remaining hours typically involve reading, research, and the preparation of tasks for assessment.

This unit focuses on two defining moments in the life of the Catholic Church in the early modern and modern periods, exploring the renewal of Christianity in the reforms culminating in the sixteenth century Reformation and the Council of Trent, and the aggiornamento of the Catholic Church proposed by Pope John XXIII and developed in the debates and documents of the Second Vatican Council. In both cases attention will be given to the relationship between Pope and Council. The question of continuity/discontinuity between Trent and Vatican II will be considered.
