Prerequisites
THBS100 Introduction to the Bible and THCT100 What Christians Believe
Teaching Organisation The unit involves 150 hours of focused learning, or the equivalent of 10 hours per week for 15 weeks. The total includes formally structured learning activities such as lectures, tutorials, online learning, video-conferencing, or supervision. The remaining hours typically involve reading, research, and the preparation of tasks for assessment.

This unit examines the person and mission of Jesus Christ beginning with the historical Jesus, his mission in relation to the reign of God, and emerging biblical interpretations of his life, death and resurrection. Patristic and historical developments are then studied with particular focus on the formulation of the Christological doctrines and the understanding of Jesus as Saviour. Modern approaches to Jesus Christ are considered in relation to classical and contemporary theological concerns and from the perspective of Christian discipleship.
