The unit involves 150 hours of focused learning, or the equivalent of 10 hours per week for 15 weeks. The total includes formally structured learning activities such as lectures, tutorials, online learning, video-conferencing, or supervision. The remaining hours typically involve reading, research, and the preparation of tasks for assessment.

In this unit, students will critically examine those beliefs that are central to the Christian faith, including beliefs about Jesus as the Christ and the significance of his life, death, and resurrection; the implications of faith in Jesus Christ for belief in God; creation; human personhood; sin; salvation; the church; and the eschaton. Students will consider these beliefs from varying theological perspectives, with a view to the history of doctrinal development, and in light of theoretical and cultural issues.
