OHSE601 Principles of Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Management

Teaching Organisation 3 hours per week (two hours of lectures and one hour of tutorial) for 12 weeks or equivalent in intensive mode or online.

This unit introduces students to the principles of Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental management, including the legal regime for the regulation of occupational health, safety and environment in Australia. It covers the main areas of focus for an OHSE manager, including the duty of care of employers, risk management obligations; sustainable development, precautionary principle, due diligence, duties of employees, hazards awareness, risk assessment and risk management, all of which are addressed in greater detail in subsequent units.
