MGMT646 Governance in Not-For-Profit Organisations

Teaching Organisation 3 hours per week for twelve weeks or equivalent.

This unit identifies the Issues of governance as they apply to community and to not for profit organisations. The expectation of community organisations is that the board of directors will be able to locate, interpret, evaluate and make effective use of governance requirements to better understand and assess the issues of governance and accountability. This unit will support the understanding of corporate governance from a management perspective and how this will apply to community and not for profit organisations in dealing with the issues of responsibility, accountability, transparency and how to effectively manage risk and liability. The unit will also addresses the ability to identify competing interests in community and not for profit organisations and how they can develop their social capital to be able to undertake independent research to further develop ethical, analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills of its people.
