LMGT310 Supply Chain Inventory Management

Prerequisites: LMGT202 Supply Chain Strategy, LMGT301 Supply Chain Demand Management
Teaching Organisation 3 hours per week for a twelve week period or equivalent.

The main purpose of a supply chain is to connect supply and demand. Inventory plays a crucial role in buffering the different flow rates in supply and demand. The level of inventory held is a consequence of how well the supply chain is managed.

This Unit introduces students to the concepts of inventory management. Specific methodologies that are used in setting safety stock levels and determining replenishment quantities are considered. In addition the impact of positioning inventory in supply chain networks is also covered.

The level of inventory has a big impact on the financial performance of a business so this Unit is an important foundation Unit.
