10 cp
Prerequisites nil
Teaching Organisation 3 hours per week for a twelve week period or equivalent.

Given a specific business strategy a supply chain strategy can be developed to enable the attainment of business objectives and the alignment with other business Unit strategies such as product and marketing. In turn the supply chain strategy drives the formulation of functional strategies such as procurement, manufacturing and distribution.

Different business strategies require different supply chain strategies and alignment is a prerequisite to ensuring competitive advantage is exploited.

This Unit is designed to develop understanding of how supply chain strategy fits with business strategy and the factors that need to be considered during the formulation process.

An understanding of the supply chain strategy development process provides the essential inputs into the development of functional supply chain plans.
