10 cp
Prerequisites Nil
Incompatible MGMT101 Fundamentals of Management and PERS200 Human Resource Management
Teaching Organisation 3 hours per week for twelve weeks or equivalent.

The unit will introduce participants to a systematic understanding of management processes and associated human behaviour in the workplace. It is about how organisations are managed and how managers can best help their organisations set and achieve their goals through a range of HR issues, perspectives, theory, research, and best practices. HRM is examined from a strategic perspective, placing emphasis upon creating a fit between HRM policy and practice and organisational strategy, culture and internal and external business environments. To be able to manage people in an effective and an efficient manner, the unit will cover the processes involved in managing people and organisations, as well as explain some elements of human behaviour. Social responsibility and ethical issues and their application to management and people are also a key consideration in this unit. This unit is the foundation unit for the Human Resource Management major.
