HIST215 Later Modern Europe

Prerequisites 10 cp from 100-level units in History
Teaching Organisation 3 hours per week for twelve weeks or equivalent of lectures, tutorials and seminars on-campus.

This unit will study Europe between 1789 and 1945. It will include a critical understanding of the major intellectual and political movements during this period, as well the development and impact of industrialisation and urbanisation on European society. The causes of the two World Wars of the twentieth century and the rise of Fascism and Communism will also be covered along with the growth of secularism and the struggle for women’s rights.
