Teaching Organisation 3 hours per week, usually 2 lectures and 1 tutorial, for twelve weeks or equivalent.
This unit presents a general survey of Australian history from 1901 to the present. It includes study of federated Australia, the birth and death of both “White Australia” and “the Australian Settlement”, the World Wars, depressions, political developments, social change and changing national identity, ethnic issues and immigration, changes in international relations as well as cultural, religious and educational developments.
