Teaching Organisation 150 hours of focused learning.

This unit aims to provide the student with an understanding of sports scientists who as trained experts assist sports people to achieve the best possible sporting performance. The unit will explore exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor control, motor development, exercise and sport psychology responses to training and competition in athletic populations and will build upon knowledge and practical skills established in the unit Coaching Science and will also address advanced training program variables to facilitate the development of trainable constructs in athletic populations. In addition the concepts of high performance management organisational structures within the high performance sporting environment will be explored. Students will develop the ability to communicate effectively the rationale for advanced game strategies, game day strategies and tactics at the high performance level. This unit will introduce students to motion analysis software designed specifically to facilitate training and performance enhancement in elite sporting environments. The attainment of vocational qualifications pertinent to this area of study will also be facilitated (National Coaching Accreditation Scheme - NCAS) with students making significant progress towards Level II certificates.
