In the service industries of sport and exercise, if there are no customers or clients there can be no organisation. Knowledge of marketing principles and their application have become increasingly important for both organisations, such as community sports clubs, and individuals, such as activity health professionals. Both need to seek to nurture and grow their client base by matching their products to clients’ wants and needs. This unit will address topics and skills of interest and relevance to a broad range of physical activity products and services. It will be useful to both intending professionals in the sport industry and those in the exercise and health promotion field, all of whom may find themselves competing for market share in what can be fiercely competitive environments.
