EDSL603 Consultancy Skills for System Leaders

This unit acknowledges the challenge facing educational system leaders as they try to guide, support and develop the professional knowledge, skills and capabilities of school-based personnel in the midst of widespread and complex national, state and system mandated school curriculum reform and administrative restructuring. Hence, this unit will develop a framework for skills and capabilities in a range of consultancy behaviours which facilitate the work of system leaders, including, inter alia, public and interpersonal communication skills, conflict resolution, critical conversations, leading sustainable change, implementing a vision, supervising, mentoring, coaching and reviewing. The importance of developing trust and productive trusting relationships will be emphasised as being at the heart of successful system consultancy.
