COUN510 Supervised Practicum

This unit provides a further opportunity for students to apply the theory and skills of counselling in a different supervised placement context to year One. The placement must be approved by the Institute’s Practicum Supervisor. The Institute will assist students in identifying their preferred placement and help facilitate the relationship between the placement organisation, the supervisor and the student. The duration of Practicum is 100 hours. The unit conforms to PACFA training standards requiring at least 16 hours of face-to-face counselling during which time the student receives 10 hours of supervision. The Practicum consolidates the identity of the trainee counsellor in their role and assists in the integration of their learning throughout the course.
