BUSN207 Ethics and Social Responsibility

Prerequisites Completion of 40 credit points.
Incompatible BUSN202 Professional Ethics; BUSN203 Business Ethics.
Teaching Organisation 12 weeks or equivalent. This unit is offered in mixed-mode where there will be 16 hours of direct contact during the two residential periods consisting of lectures and tutorials/workshops. In addition, there will be an online component which will be undertaken between the two residential periods. Students are expected to spend approximately 150 hours in total for a 10 credit point unit.

Business people are faced with ethical issues daily and they need to be able to address these issues effectively. This unit encompasses a general introduction to business ethics and social responsibility. The unit will consider important implications of ethical principles for the business environment. The unit will examine cross-cultural differences and their relation to business ethics. Seminal and current business ethics cases will be used to develop students’ ethical reasoning and decision-making skills. Further, the unit will provide opportunities for students to analyse critically a number of core concepts and new developments.
