BUSN204 Small Business Governance Business

Prerequisites Completion of 40 credit points
Teaching Organisation 12 weeks or equivalent. This unit is offered in mixed-mode where there will be 16 hours of direct contact during the two residential periods consisting of lectures and tutorials/workshops. In addition, there will be an online component which will be undertaken between the two residential periods. Students are expected to spend approximately 150 hours in total for a 10 credit point unit.

Implementing small business governance in an Indigenous business is an important part of ensuring future success. This unit will provide students with a sound foundation which will help them to understand the role of corporate governance in small business, the statutory and ethical aspects of governance and the tools available to enable successful governance processes. The unit will examine the complexities faced by Indigenous business managers in balancing family, community and business responsibilities.
