Teaching Organisation Teaching and learning strategies will include learner-centred resource sessions, tutorials/ workshops, web-based learning and science laboratory activities. Students will be expected to take responsibility for their learning and to participate actively within group activities, demonstrating respect for the individual as an independent learner.

This is the first of two inter-professional foundational science units. It will introduce health science students to the principles of anatomy and physiology in relation to healthy body function, including the maintenance of homeostasis. The nervous, endocrine, musculoskeletal and integumentary systems will be a particular focus. Pharmacological principles will also be introduced in the context of quality use of medicines. Physical science concepts related to the study of anatomy, physiology and pharmacology will also be introduced. Students will be actively engaged in applying this knowledge to health related situations.
