ACCT600 Accounting for Decision-Making

10 cp
Prerequisites Nil
Teaching Organisation 3 hours per week (two hours of lectures and one hour of tutorial) for 12 weeks or equivalent in intensive mode or online.

This unit takes as its theme the use of accounting information for decision making. Students will be members of organisations of all types which share a common problem: limited resources for pursuing organisational goals. As a consequence, managers are regularly confronted by the need to make important economic decisions balancing a range of qualitative and quantitative priorities and constraints. Accounting information is usually a vital input to those decisions. Hence, as managers who will be involved in the decision-making process, graduates need to know how to use accounting information in making economic decisions. To make many decisions in an effective way, they need to become “accounting literate”.
