THSR201 Ethics and Peace Studies in World Religions

Teaching Organisation 3 hours per week for twelve weeks or equivalent.

This unit studies the impact of religious texts and teachings on the lives of adherents with respect to three defined areas of ethics (bioethics, environmental ethics and sexual ethics) and two defined aspects of peace (the individual quest for inner peace and the quest to achieve world peace). The unit considers these issues from the perspective of five world religions Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam and Judaism. Each student must be assessed on a minimum of two religious traditions.
