This unit is an exploration of the development of Catholic Social Thought as a critical reflection on and response to the social teaching found mainly in a series of papal encyclicals, dating from 1745 onwards. The unit will include concepts typical of Catholic Social Thought, such as the dignity of the person, the common good, solidarity, subsidiarity, and equality.
