THCP500 The Church Reaching Out

Teaching Organisation This unit is equivalent to 150 hours of focused learning. These may include lectures, seminars and workshops, and mixed modes.

This unit sets out to establish a scholarly environment wherein students, having explored the vastly differing expressions of the Christian missionary endeavour throughout history, identify the constant factors within ever-changing contexts. Furthermore, this unit aims to confront students with the challenge facing the contemporary church: what does a missional church look like today? Ultimately, this unit challenges students to propose considered strategies that a specific church might undertake as it seeks to be "faithful to the tradition", an authentic expression of "The Church Reaching Out".
