SWTP625 Field Practicum 1

Prerequisites SWTP621 Context for Social Work, SWTP620 Social Work Theory and Ethics, SWTP622 Social Work with Individuals and SWTP623 Legal Systems and Mental Health
Teaching Organisation 4 hours per week for twelve weeks or equivalent with additional time required for field visits.

Field practicum 1 provides the opportunity for students to develop knowledge and skills for professional practice in accordance with the AASW Practice Standards (2003) and AASW Code of Ethics (2002). The Australian Catholic University Field Education Manual provides full details of the expectations and activities associated with the field placement experience. In addition to supervised social work practice in an agency, students will attend seminars to integrate theory and practice and complete studies in organisational practice drawing upon organisational theory. The concepts examined will include organisational cultures, structures of governance and the nature, processes and impact of organisational change on service delivery and management.
