Prerequisites SWTP312 Social Work Practice with Individuals and Groups 1

This unit will build on Social Work Practice with Individuals and Groups 1 by extending the students ability to conduct assessments and develop appropriate and empowering interventions with people who have diverse needs with particular attention given to vulnerable groups. A range of social work interventions will be explored. Emphasis will be given to group work with students developing knowledge about group work theory and skills in designing and running groups. The unit will continue to focus on the ethical principles underpinning social work practice and students will examine a range of ethical issues that regularly confront practitioners. The experiential component will provide practice in interpersonal communication skills and knowledge of reflective practice through small group activities and individual tasks.
