PSYC422 Cognitive Neuropsychology

Prerequisites Entry into the BPsychSc (Honours) or PgDipPsych courses
Teaching Organisation 2 hours per week for twelve weeks or equivalent of lectures, workshops and presentations of research papers on each campus with the possibility of running via video conferencing between Brisbane and Melbourne.

This unit is designed to study how cognitive functions and processes relate to brain structure and function. The general aim of the unit is to cover the methods and approaches used to investigate the workings of the mind and the effects of brain damage on cognitive abilities and to provide a scientific knowledge and understanding of specific areas relating to the study of brain function and dysfunction. The emphasis of this unit is on the cognitive consequences of brain injury or neurological illnesses with the aim of developing models of normal cognitive function.
