NRSG602 Assessing and Evaluating Clinical Education

This unit will provide the students with the knowledge and skills to develop and implement innovative, valid, reliable, practical and efficient assessment procedures that are appropriate to a wide variety of clinical situations. Students will explore the role of assessment and evaluation in the curricula of clinical teaching and learning, as well as examining the underpinning theories and philosophies that underpin these assessment procedures. Various innovative forms of assessment and learning outcomes will focus on adopting a deeper approach to learning, such as peer review, self-assessment and ANCI competency assessment. In addition, the unit includes an opportunity for the students to explore in detail issues in relation to evaluation of clinical teaching programs. Issues of judgement of others and innovation in developing accurate assessment of practical ability will be critically examined.
