NRSG523 Ethical Issues and Midwifery Practice

This unit provides opportunity for the student to examine and debate ethical considerations associated with midwifery healthcare practice. Contemporary issues that students will have the opportunity to focus on include the human condition during childbearing, availability and adequacy of maternity services, modern advances in reproductive technology, maternity care for families with special needs (including beginning-of-life and end-of-life decisions), and the influence of diversity of ethics, culture and religion on accountability for professional and ethical practice. There will be a particular focus on the Catholic tradition.
