10 cp
Prerequisites HLSC120 Society, Culture and Health
Teaching Organisation 150 hours focused learning.

This unit aims to provide students with an experience of different cultural and health practices and services in a host Indigenous Australian community. A primary health care approach provides the framework for viewing and interpreting this learning experience. Students will have opportunities to observe and interact with health care providers and their clients and to reflect upon and compare with their experiences in a context vastly different from their normal environment. Students will also have an opportunity to experience the diversity of health related issues and practices within the Indigenous Australian community. Preparation for this experience will include exploration and discussion of the cultural variations and key health issues and priorities of the host community.
