Teaching Organisation Workshops and rehearsals on campus. The student is also required to direct a choir external to the University. This may be a church, school or community choir, or may be a group formed to travel to locations as required. Choral conducting workshops of 1.5 hours per week for twelve weeks or equivalent. Campus Choir rehearsals and workshops for at least 2 hours per week, together with public performances in liturgies, university functions and at end-of-semester concerts as well as organisational meetings. The external choir must rehearse under the direction of the student for at least 1 hour per week or equivalent.

An advanced study of conducting techniques, including irregular and non-metrical patterns in plainchant, Renaissance, polyphony and twentieth-century music, and further refinement of choral training, accompaniment and rehearsal techniques. Further training in choral and ensemble techniques, applied to selected repertoire in the Campus Choir. The choir-training practicum provides experience in choral direction of a choir external to the University, and integrates the skills acquired in previous Choral Training units and in the Campus Choir.
