This unit extends traditional marketing theory and practice to social and non-profit marketing. As with traditional marketing, a social marketing program focuses on changing the attitudes of a target market through a strategic social marketing program. This unit also examines various social and ethical issues associated with marketing decisions. Topics to be addressed include ethical issues related to privacy and deception, specific marketing practices such as marketing to children, green marketing and the marketing of socially unacceptable products. Social marketing policy issues are also discussed.
