HUMA313 Lifestyle Facilitation 3

10 cp
Prerequisites Nil
Teaching Organisation Each semester is twelve weeks in length and is taught by distance education.

The main approach of lifestyle facilitation is an individual one: meeting needs on a onetoone basis. On occasions, however, the individuals needs may be met within a group setting. Workers employed to assist people with a disability may be responsible for the organising and functioning of the group process. Within the social context, lifetime friendships develop through interaction with others who have similar interests and similar life experiences. Acknowledging that it is best that people choose their own friends, people with a disability often choose as friends other people with a disability who have had similar life experiences. With inclusion in the community as a principle of practice, workers who assist people with a disability have a role to play in encouraging inclusion by the methods used to assist the organisation of group activities. The units Lifestyle Facilitation 1 and Lifestyle Facilitation 2 provided students with practical facilitation exercises on an individual basis. This unit focuses on the development of a groups program in accordance with the needs of the individuals. Program implementation and evaluation are also integral components of the development process.
