HIST105 Early Modern Europe

Teaching Organisation 2 one-hour lectures per week and 1 one-hour tutorial per week for twelve weeks or equivalent.

In addition there will be some videos scheduled outside normal teaching sessions which students may attend. (Videos which are directly relevant to a lecture topic may be scheduled for inclusion in a lecture or tutorial).
This unit covers major themes in European history from the Renaissance and Reformation (ca. 1500) through to the latter half of the Eighteenth Century (ca. 1789). Students will be introduced to major developments in Renaissance and Reformation Europe from the High Renaissance (1450-1500) and the age of the Reformation, Counter Reformation, religious wars the Thirty Years War, the Intellectual Revolution of the seventeenth century and Europe in the age of absolutism and the enlightenment.
