Teaching Organisation 3 hours per week, usually 2 lectures and 1 tutorial, for twelve weeks or equivalent.

This is a general survey of the history of Australia from the coming of the Aborigines and the Europeans, through to the 1880s. It includes study of prehistory, the penal system, pastoral expansion, race relations, the gold rushes, immigration, urbanisation, agricultural settlement, and the development of education, cultures, religion and identity.
