ENGL212 Historical Aspects of Children's Literature

Literature major/minor: 10 cp from 100-level units in Literature
Teaching Organisation A range of teaching procedures, including lectures, tutorials, and screenings will be used.

This unit will focus on a historical survey of the development of childrens literature in England, Australia and the United States, from the eighteenth to the early twentieth century. Students will be introduced to the literature dealing with the history of childhood. The unit will link the changing constructions of childhood to developments in childrens literature and will develop students skills in interdisciplinary enquiry.
