EDFD662 Wellbeing in Inclusive Schooling

20 cp

This unit offers participants opportunities to explore key theoretical perspectives and current research on wellbeing in inclusive schooling and strategies for integrating the learning into practice in Catholic school communities. The structure, content and assessment tasks are based on recognition of the multiple factors that contribute to wellbeing of students and others in the school community. The unit explores environmental-focused approaches addressing, for example, relevant policy frameworks, school culture, pedagogy and teacher attitudes, relationship-building, participation, community resources and partnerships, evidence-based practice, capacity-building, strategic planning and links with school improvement processes. Individual-focused approaches addressing development of skills, values and attitudes which promote self-efficacy and wellbeing through, for example, social and emotional learning, learner-centred curriculum are also examined. This unit will provide a solid platform from which participants can build further purposeful classroom, whole-school and community-linked practice and research, grounded in sound evidence.
