EDFD446 Development and Learning

This unit incorporates insights from developmental psychology and sociology to provide frames of reference to assist preservice teachers to understand student characteristics in the middle and adolescence years, and their implications for teaching. Particular emphasis is placed on relevant aspects of the learner, the teacher and their interrelationships. The preservice students will be expected to reflect on theories of learning, review and develop an informed personal view of learning, and develop strategies to become more effective learners. From their individual and social perspectives they examine and compare the processes of how others learn and develop a rich understanding of the teachers role in creating effective challenging learning environments.
