EBFD103 Social Analysis and Community Outreach (East Timor)

10 cp

This unit aims to develop students who are critical thinkers and who will use skills in social analysis to act for social justice in a variety of contexts. An experiential learning component will provide students with first hand experiences that will increase their awareness of issues of structural injustice in the world at both a local and global level. The content is grounded in the principles of human rights and social justice and these concepts provide a foundation for analysis of contemporary society. Students will develop an understanding of the causes of injustice and exclusion and their skills for effective social action will be increased. Students will be encouraged to reflect upon their own values and personal lives. This unit provides students with relevant social context in which to come to a personalised understanding of human rights and justice while relating this to learning within teacher education.
