Strathfield Campus Student Association Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Assistance Bursary

First awarded in 2014, this bursary is funded by the Strathfield Campus Student Association to support an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student studying at the ACU Strathfield Campus.

One bursary valued at $1,000 is available each year, paid in one lump sum.

This bursary is open to applicants who meet all of the following criteria:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
  • Studying at the Strathfield Campus
  • Passed all units in first year of course

Required Documentation
The following documents must be submitted with the application:

  • A written statement of approximately 200 words outlining:
    • what new opportunities the Bursary will provide the applicant;
    • what they will spend the bursary on and how it will assist the applicant to successfully complete their degree program
  • Evidence of financial need
  • Two written references (religious, community, professional or personal).

Applications are assessed based on the strength of the following criteria:

  • Written statement
  • Evidence of financial need
  • Written references

Selection Process
Applicants will be shortlisted by the Scholarships Office in consultation with the First Peoples and Equity Pathways Directorate and Yalbalinga, and recipients selected by the donor.

Ongoing Requirements
Recipients are requested to submit a letter of appreciation for the donor explaining how the Scholarship has assisted them. The letter should be submitted to the Scholarships Office no later than 1 October of each year.

Members of the Strathfield Campus Student Association Management Committee are not eligible to apply for this Bursary.
