Social Work Rural Placement Scholarship

Established in 2006 to provide financial support for Social Work students, towards the costs of undertaking a rural or international placement.

Several scholarships valued at up to $1,500 are available each year, paid in one lump sum.  The total value awarded across all recipients will not exceed $1,500.

This scholarship is open to applicants who meet all of the following criteria:

  • Studying at the Canberra campus
  • Enrolled in the Bachelor or Master of Social Work
  • Intend to undertake a rural or international placement.

Required Documentation
The following documents must be submitted with the application:

  • Academic transcript
  • A written statement of approximately 100 words outlining how the Scholarship could financially support the intended program of study

Selection Criteria
Applications are assessed based on the strength of the following criteria:

  • Academic merit
  • Written statement

Selection Process
The recipients will be selected by the Scholarships Office.

Ongoing Requirements
Recipients are requested to submit a letter of appreciation for the donor explaining how the Scholarship has assisted them.  The letter should be submitted to the Scholarships Office no later than 1 October of each year.

Priority is given to rural placements.
