St Vincent de Paul Society-Broken Bay Central Council Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarships

Established in 2005 and sponsored by the Broken Bay Central Council of the St Vincent de Paul Society, this scholarship aims to increase the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander graduates in professional fields who have the potential and desire to influence better choices, lifestyle and living conditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Three scholarships valued at $2,000 per annum are available each year paid in one instalment annually for the duration of the recipients’ course for a maximum of three years.

This scholarship is open to applicants who meet all of the following criteria:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
  • Enrolled in an ACU Education degree
  • Studying at the Strathfield or North Sydney Campus.

Required Documentation
The following documents must be submitted with the application:

  • A written statement of approximately 200 words outlining:
    • how the Scholarship will change the applicant's life and the life of their family and community.

Applications are assessed based on the strength of the following criteria:

Selection Process
Applicants will be shortlisted by the Scholarships Office, in consultation with the First Peoples and Equity Pathways Directorate, and recipients selected by the donor.

Ongoing Requirements
Recipients are requested to submit a letter of appreciation for the donor explaining how the Scholarship has assisted them.  The letter should be submitted to the Scholarships Office no later than 1 October of each year.
