About Social Justice Youth Forum 2014
The Social Justice Youth Forum is an opportunity for Australian Catholic University to share its mission and its commitment to social justice with senior school students. At this day, students will be invited to participate in lectures and workshops, aimed at raising their awareness of a wide range of social justice issues and concerns, such as human trafficking, care of the earth, educating refugees, homelessness in Australia, etc.
The keynote address will be delivered by Dr Anne Gallagher AO who will be speaking on the topic of ‘Not for Sale: Working Together to End Human Trafficking’. An award-winning lawyer, teacher, practitioner and scholar, Anne is one of the leading global authorities on human trafficking. She spent 12 years working with the United Nations on this issue and now supports governments around the world to develop more effective criminal justice responses to trafficking. As well as delivering the keynote address, Dr Gallagher will answer questions from participants.
We encourage you to promote this event with students, especially those in your school’s social justice groups, your student leadership team and/or those already demonstrating a commitment to social justice. Due to the nature of the topics covered at the Forum and the limited places available, we ask that only students from years 10, 11 and 12 participate in this event.
There is no cost involved in the Forum and participants will be provided with a complimentary morning tea and lunch.
