Making an Appointment
Student Services staff are available for consultations with enrolled ACU students who are seeking help with their studies and personal needs.
Please note that students do not need to make an appointment to visit Mission Engagement staff.
The Online Booking System (OBS)
Consultation are by appointment only and can be accessed using the Student Services Online Booking System (OBS).
The first time you use OBS each academic year, you will need to complete a brief registration form and set up a username and password. You will only need to register one time each year, and you will be able to access every Student Service with the same username and password.
Please note that you will not be able to log into OBS using your StudentConnect username and password. You will need to set up a separate OBS username and password on your first visit to the site.
How to book an appointment online
To make an appointment:
- Log into OBS.
- Select your campus and the service you wish to book with from the pull down menus.
Please note: Not all services on all campuses offer online appointment bookings. If the service you want does not appear in the menu, please contact the staff member directly to make an appointment. - Choose an available time from the Appointment Calendar.
White cells are available times. Grey cells are unavailable. If no white cells appear, all appointments are fully booked. Keep checking back, as students may cancel their appointments, opening up appointment times. - For an Academic Skills or Careers appointment, select a Focus of the Consultation by ticking one of the check boxes; then, click the Next button in the bottom right hand corner of the page.
- You will see a page displaying the details of your appointment. To confirm these details and reserve your time, click the Make Appointment link in the bottom right hand corner of the page.
That's it! You will see a confirmation page with your appointment details if your booking was successful, and an email will be sent to the address you entered when you registered.
Cancelling and Rescheduling Appointments
There is high demand for appointments, and cancelling an appointment that you cannot keep will make time available for another student. To help us ensure that our services are as accessible as possible for all students, please cancel your appointment before midnight (12:00 am) the day before your appointment.
If you do not cancel your appointment with sufficient notice, or if you do not attend a scheduled appointment, it will be considered a missed appointment. Missed appointments will count toward any applicable appointment limits and may restrict your ability to book another appointment for the next seven days.
If you need to cancel your appointment on the day due to emergency, please contact the Student Services staff member you have booked with directly.
To cancel an appointment:
- Log into OBS.
- Click on the blue My Appointments tab.
- Click the blue Cancel link next to the appointment you want to cancel.
An email will be sent to the address you supplied when you registered confirming that your appointment has been cancelled.
FAQs
Q: What if I'm an online student and find it difficult to get to campus? Can I still make an appointment?
A: Yes, but it would be most useful to contact the Student Services staff member you want to book with directly by email or phone before you access OBS. There are also a number of online resources available on the myACU site.
Q: Why can't I log into OBS using my ACU student ID and password?
A: OBS is a stand-alone system which works independently of any accounts you may already be using at ACU. Therefore, the first time you try to make an appointment each academic year, you will need to register with a username and password. If you find it easier to remember, you can set that username and password to use your StudentConnect login information.
Q: What if I forget my password?
A: If you remember your username, and you entered a valid email address when you registered, you can ask OBS to send you an email with your password. Simply go to the OBS main login page and click the password help link. If you have forgotten your username, please contact a Student Services staff member to help you.
Q: What can I do if there aren't any appointments available on the system?
A: If no appointments appear available, all appointment times are fully booked. Keep checking back, as students may cancel appointments, creating available appointment times. Also, many Student Services areas offer drop in times, and all have online information that you can access through the myACU site. Check with the Service on your campus to find out about the options available to you.
Q: Why aren't any appointments available today?
A: Most services require students to book at least one day ahead.
Q: How far in advance can I book an appointment?
A: You can book between one and two weeks ahead, depending upon the service and the campus.
Q: What if I have a visual disability or other difficulty accessing OBS? Can I still make an appointment?
A: Yes! If you are unable to access OBS for any reason, or have difficulties doing so, contact a Student Services staff member directly for assistance.
