ACU National Disability Policy Statement

Australian Catholic University strongly supports the right of people with disabilities to participate in higher education both as students and employees. The University is committed to developing an environment where diversity amongst students and staff is valued and nurtured.

The University will foster among its staff and students positive, informed and unprejudiced attitudes towards people with disabilities and will encourage and assist staff to develop skills to help meet the learning and support needs of students with disabilities. The University will make provision insofar as resources may reasonably permit, for any service needed by or for students and staff with disabilities.

The University will act to provide an accessible and supportive learning environment for students with disabilities and will provide access insofar as reasonably practicable to any service provided by the University to its staff and students.

Australian Catholic University, its staff and students are each required to comply with the provisions and intentions of the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the relevant State or Territory anti-discrimination legislation.The University therefore expects that its staff and students will work together in the spirit of the legislation.

The staff of the University will respect the rights of confidentiality of staff and students who have a disability.
