Information on special circumstances
Extensions, Deferred Exams, Extension of time to pay fees, Late Withdrawal Without Penalty.
Sometimes students through the course of their study have issues that arise that may affect their academic performance by preventing them from:
- continuing with study,
- submitting assessment tasks,
- paying fees, or
- attending exams.
There is provision in the Academic Regulations for students to apply for extensions, late withdrawal without penalty and deferment of exams if they have special circumstances.
If you feel you need professional support from a Counsellor in order to manage or cope with these Special Circumstances, please make an appointment to see a Counsellor.
What are special circumstances?
- Special Circumstances - may be medical, compassionate or other exceptional circumstances that have arisen beyond your control and are affecting your academic performance or progress.
- If you believe you are experiencing issues beyond your control that are affecting or might affect your academic performance approaching your course co-ordinator or the campus counsellor may assist you to manage your study so as not to be disadvantaged.
What to Do!
- Whether you require an extension or a deferment of exams there are specific forms to be completed which you will find under forms in the Student Information section of this site. You can apply before an assessment item or exam is due or for exams, within 5 working days after the scheduled exam date.
