Making an Appointment
Appointments
- The Counselling Service provides short term counselling which is generally 1 to 6 sessions depending on the issue presented.
- You can make counselling appointments by phoning or emailing the relevant counsellor on your campus. Some campuses offer online booking or have a receptionist who can make an appointment for you.
- The Counselling Service is often very busy and on some campuses the counsellors work on a part time basis. If possible plan ahead when making appointments to avoid disappointment.
- Usually counselling appointments are made on an hourly basis and your time with a counsellor will be for approximately 50 minutes.
- You are eligible to access the service if you are a student of ACU National.
- You will need to complete a registration form.
- If you need to see a counsellor urgently, the Service at McAuley, MacKillop, Mount Saint Mary and Saint Patrick's campuses will return your phone calls, emails or notes as soon as possible, often within 24 hours. On MacKillop, Mount Saint Mary and McAuley campuses the Service provides 'drop in' during the week.
- The Counselling service is free, voluntary and confidential.
Email Policy
- Due to the inability to ensure confidentiality and timely responses to student issues, the Counselling Service does not offer counselling via email.
- However, the Counselling Service will respond to appointment requests and general enquiries by email within a reasonable timeframe.
