Do's and Don'ts

Do

  • Be as creative as you like, use film footage/graphics/images/animation - whatever you want
  • save your video in .WMV, .AVI,  .MPEG or .MOV format (4:3 and 16:9 are both acceptable) and submit both online and on a data disc
  • enter as an individual or a group of two to five
  • address as many themes as you want
  • create a video specific to the ACU National student experience
  • get friends and family to rate your video
  • submit your entry sooner rather than later (you’ll get more votes)
  • make sure anyone featured in your video is happy to be on the internet
  • read and accept the terms and conditions before submitting your entry
  • have a look at our tips and resources if you need help getting started.

Don’t

  • Exceed the five minute time limit
  • try to upload anything larger than 200MB
  • submit your video in DVD format (you may submit it as a data file on a DVD in one of the formats listed above)
  • submit anything that you don’t want to appear on YouTube or the University’s website
  • disrespect the privacy rights of others
  • make anyone look bad (it’s called defamation, and its illegal)
  • use copyrighted material without expressed permission from the copyright owner (that includes music, images or footage)
  • submit anything after the deadline (4pm, Friday, 2 April).

Do we even have to say it?

Videos featuring profanity, violence, defamatory statements, nudity or other offensive material will be disregarded. Keep it G-Rated.
