In 2009 the Federal Government announced its intention to introduce mission-based compact agreements for Australian universities. These agreements outline the relationship between the Commonwealth and each university.
The agreements are intended to reflect the university's individual mission and to facilitate alignment with national priorities. They will also be used to help set performance targets for each institution in relation to quality, attainment and participation by students from under-represented groups.
The process of developing these agreements has begun. The Australian Catholic University has signed an interim agreement which can be found below.
