60 seconds with David Craig…

David is the new Director of Marketing and External Relations, based at the North Sydney Campus.

How would I spend my ideal day?

Well if it was my ideal day then it would begin in New York City, my absolute favourite city in the world.  A walk through Central Park to start my day, and after breakfast head for the museums, the Met and the National History Museum being prime targets.  No day in NYC is complete without some shopping and a visit to Century 21 to pick up some bargains.  Dinner at the Boathouse in Central Park, we spent Thanksgiving there with friends in 2007 and it will always hold a very special memory for me and my family.

In life I have learnt…

There is no such word as “can’t”.  Anything is possible if you open your mind to it.

Something that inspires me...

My children inspire me every day as they discover and experience new and different things.  Personally I also generate energy and enthusiasm by travelling. I love to travel and experience new cultures and meet different people.

What would surprise most people about my job?

Hard to answer this as it has only been three days but I have been very pleasantly surprised by how friendly everyone is at ACU.  I have been made to feel very welcome here.

What has been the most significant development in my field since starting my career?

The internet!  In the last 10 years the development of digital marketing has had a massive impact on marketing but once you understand that the internet isn’t just another advertising medium but rather an online reflection of people and culture then it becomes a wonderful marketing opportunity.

If I could invite any five people to dinner, who would they be and why?

Walt Disney - a creative genius way ahead of his time;
Sir Donald Bradman - I love cricket and it would be amazing to talk sport with him;
Tiger Woods - as above but talking golf and dealing with pressure (not how to have a successful marriage!);
Winston Churchill - self explanatory;
My wife - because if I didn’t I would never hear the end of it!
