Brisbane Campus hive for Business Buzz
High school students attending Buzz with Business
The ACU Brisbane Campus recently played host to over 100 year 10, 11 and 12 students at Buzz with Business.
Buzz with Business involves students from schools across Brisbane visiting the campus for a day, and being involved in a variety of business themed activities.
Jennifer Grant, Undergraduate Course Coordinator for the Faculty of Business, believes it is an excellent day for the students.
“Buzz with Business gives years 10, 11 and 12 students the opportunity to take part in an interactive one day conference set in a university environment. It is designed to stimulate an interest in business and promote the development of entrepreneurship skills,
“The aim of the event is to be fun, interesting and inspiring” said Ms Grant.
The main component of the day involved informal interactive activities that gave participants the opportunity to explore and discuss issues.
Ms Grant says, “The interactive activities assist students to be creative and to identify business opportunities and explore innovative problem solving.
“Although the main theme of the day is focussed on the business environment, the day also aims to assist students to recognise the importance of identifying and grasping opportunities in other areas of their lives, such as in their studies.”
The day also involved an address from Mr Cameron Toomey from Domino’s Pizza, who spoke to the students and provided them insight into the real life business environment.
The highlight for the ACU staff was listening to the students’ enthusiastic discussions and novel ideas.
For the students and teachers it is a valued extension to their school business program.
