A challenge for society and services
Eminent researcher Professor Roy Brown will present a lecture at Australian Catholic University’s (ACU) Canberra Campus on Tuesday August 10, discussing Individual and family quality of life: A challenge for society and services.
Dr Rhonda Faragher, education lecturer at ACU, said children and adults with intellectual disabilities and their families are looking for improvements in their quality of life and wellbeing.
“Quality of life has become a dynamic yet sometimes misunderstood development in the field of support and care,” she said.
“Professor Brown’s presentation is designed for family members experiencing developmental disabilities across the life span, support personnel and professionals. He will look at changes in support, policy and family living resulting in challenges for policy and management, and examine some of the major successes around the world.”
Professor Brown is a researcher and practitioner in the field of intellectual disability, with a background in clinical and educational psychology. He is a fellow of the British Psychological Society, has published extensively, and is currently writing for a series of books on adults with down syndrome.
